Job overview

The post holder will take an active role in the design, development, enhancement and support of web systems to meet the needs of our customer organisations.

Main duties of the job

  1. Provide support to users of the TYPO3 and Word Press Content Management System
  2. Where necessary, maintain and update intranet and internet content for customer organisations
  3. Assist in the design and production of attractive, usable and scalable web systems that are standards compliant
  4. Assist on website and web app development projects for our client organisations
  5. Investigate new development technologies
  6. Ensure that all website content is cross-device and cross-browser compatible
  7. Be aware of our customers’ requirements and investigate innovative methods to meeting these
  8. Be aware of developments within The Health Informatics Service and the environment in which it operates
  9. Carry out any other duties and responsibilities commensurate with the grade

Working for our organisation

The Web Team is a small busy team of back and front end developers, building and designing websites, intranets and systems for our large customer base.

The team are an agile working team so much of the work will be done remotely, from home, and once the restrictions allow, we will be based in Elland.

We communicate regularly both as a team and with peers and have a good sense of fun. 

THIS is a 220+ strong division of CHFT and have regular updates and communications and support right across the board.

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Relevant IT / Web Dev Degree

Experience

Essential criteria
  • High experience in using HTML, CSS and PHP.
  • Experience of using procedural programming techniques.
  • Experience of using Content Management systems (e.g. Typo3, Word Press).
  • Experience in the use of image manipulation software such as Adobe Creative Suite.
Desirable criteria
  • Understanding of HTML5 and CSS3.
  • Understanding and experience of Object Orientated programming (OOP) techniques
  • Experience of using JavaScript, jQuery and git repositories
  • High experience of using and understanding relational databases such as MySQL and MS SQL.

Training

Desirable criteria
  • Knowledge of Bootstrap web framework.
  • Developing and maintaining plugins for Content Management Systems

Practical/Intellectual Skills/Personal Qualities

Special Knowledge/ Expertise

Essential criteria
  • Knowledge of programming web applications using PHP or jQuery and AJAX.
  • Knowledge of navigating a web server using an FTP client
  • A high level of IT literacy
Desirable criteria
  • Experience of using TYPO3
  • Knowledge of programming web applications using PHP Objects, Functions and Classes
  • Knowledge of using a SSH terminal such as puTTY.
