We are pleased to offer an exciting opportunity to work with our cancer team at Calderdale & Huddersfield NHS Foundation Trust. We are looking for a motivated and dynamic nurse to join the team as the Macmillan Head & Neck Cancer Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS).

As a key member of the team you will lead on the development of a new high quality specialist nursing service for patients diagnosed with a Head & Neck Cancer. The post holder will work across professional departmental and Trust boundaries as required to develop and support patient centered seamless care. Working alongside the Head & Neck Cancer Multi-Disciplinary Team (MDT) the post holder will possess a distinct level of responsibility in providing a comprehensive specialist nursing service and be an educational resource and support across the Trust for staff, patients and relatives.

You will work with the MDT and Cancer Management Team with the flexibility of working between Calderdale Royal Hospital and Huddersfield Royal Infirmary to ensure that the Head & Neck cancer service complies with the national standards for the safety and quality, which are assessed through Quality Surveillance Information System (Peer Review) and actively contribute with work plans resulting from the Peer Review process.

The post holder will have excellent communication skills, strong leadership, management and interpersonal skills with the ability to drive change to ensure that the Head & Neck Cancer service in the Trust is both safe and effective.

The patient experience will be a priority for you with a strong emphasis on compassion and dignity. You will be supported by an experienced and committed management team.
The post holder will work closely with the Head and Neck Services Matron and General Manager to ensure optimum care is delivered to our patients.

For this role you will need to have current NMC Nursing registration with post qualification experience, leadership training and experience, recent experience in caring for the cancer patient.
Possession of excellent communication, teamwork and interpersonal skills coupled with evidence of continuing professional development is essential. In addition you will be required to demonstrate a flexible approach to work.
